Findmypast Limited is a limited liability company registered in England and Wales (company number 4369607) having its registered office at 185 Fleet Street, London, England, EC4A 2HS. Our VAT registration number is 426 9170 84.

This document sets out the terms of use on which you may make use of our websites www.thesocialhistoryarchive.com and www.findmypast.co.uk (“our Sites”).

Licence to Use Services

Subject to these Terms, Findmypast grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited licence to access and use our primary source content for research, teaching, and private study purposes only. Any other use of the content without prior written permission from Findmypast is strictly prohibited.

Intellectual Property Rights

All copyright, database rights, trademarks and design rights (“Intellectual Property”) in our Sites and in the material published on it belong to us and our licensors. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.

You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our Sites for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to material posted on our Site.

Unless permission has been specifically granted in writing by The Social History Archive, you may not use, attempt to use, or permit the use of any software tools or products, automated or otherwise, (including, but not limited to, any screen scraper, spider or other web crawler) to access website material, records, other content (including, but not limited to, metadata) or to search, copy, monitor, display or obtain links to any part of the website for any purpose whatsoever.

You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Findmypast and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against all losses, expenses, damages, and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, resulting from any violation of these Terms or any activity related to your account (including negligent or wrongful conduct) by you or any other person accessing the service using your account.

Changes to Terms

Findmypast reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any changes by posting the new Terms on our site. Your continued use of the services after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

Governing Law
